HEART to heart Bible Studies

After God called me to write He put a series of Bible studies on my heart. The original vision for these Bible studies was a series that was going to be called Living Stones Bible studies. Later I came to understand that “Living Stones” would be the name of one of those studies but the overall series would be called the HEART to heart Bible studies.

When you look at the Bible study series title you will notice that the first HEART is capitalized because it speaks of the heart of God. God exists before time and throughout eternity. He is the originator and source of life and the source of divine, heart and life-changing power. God will change the hearts and lives of people as they read His word, the Holy Bible and study it. God will continue His work until the end of time. The Bible is God’s story and it reveals Him from the beginning until the end of time. We can read about the end of time in the last book of the Bible called Revelation.

When speaking about God’s heart, we must know that it is pure love, in all of its various facets. God’s nature is love. Scripture tells us, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” (1 John 4:7-8 NKJV)

God demonstrated His love for us and gave us an example of that love. Scripture tells us, “In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” (1 John 4:9-10 NKJV)

Jesus Christ, God’s one and only Son, came into this world to pay the penalty for our sins so that we might have eternal life and become God’s adopted Sons and members of His heavenly household. God the Father gave up His most precious Son to be the sacrifice for our sins and the way for us to come to God. True agape love sacrifices self for the benefit of someone else. Jesus was our demonstration of this love.

As we come to the second “heart” in the title of this Bible study series, we see the heart of mankind after they have been born again by God’s Holy Spirit. We can see that God changes our sinful, unloving heart and gives us a new heart of flesh. In the Bible book of Ezekiel (Ezekiel 11:16-20), we can read about this change. God also put His Spirit in us so that we can walk in His statutes and keep His judgments and do them; and we shall become God’s people, and He will become our God. God also pours His love into our hearts by way of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 5:5) He pours His love out to us so we can love God back and love others around us.

So the title “HEART to heart” represents God’s pouring His heart and love into us. God loves us more than we can ever fathom. He loves us with an everlasting love.

In 1 Corinthians 13:2 (NKJV) the Bible tells us, “And though I have the gift of prophesy; and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so I could remove all mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.” In 1 Corinthians 13:13 (NKJV) scripture says, “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” As God’s children we are commanded to love God and others, even our enemies. The Bible tells us they will know we are Christians by our love.

These Heart to heart Bible Studies come from a love that God has put in my heart to share His word with others. God is love and He alone has the answers to the problems we face in our daily lives. I desire to pass the love and hope God has given me onto those who read and work through these Bible Studies. By completing them I hope you come to know God and the great love He has for you!
